Common Tattoo Removal Procedures To Avoid
If you have a tattoo that you don’t want anymore, you are not alone. A considerable number of people do end up regretting their tattoo decisions. Sometimes, a person may decide to get rid of an existing tattoo, simply because they want space for a new one. Like everyone else, you may have seen those ads that promise to remove tattoos using creams and other methods. Unfortunately, most of these tattoo removal products are unsafe. In this post, we are discussing more on tattoo removal procedures to avoid.
Creams and ointments
Most tattoo removal creams don’t work – simple. Keep in mind that for a tattoo removal cream to work, it must penetrate deep in the skin to break down the ink pigments, and most products don’t achieve that. There are over-the-counter products available that are insanely cheap, and often extensively promoted, but most of these end up having serious side effects, including scarring of the skin.
Acid treatments
It may sound absurd to most of us, but there are people who go for acid treatments to remove a tattoo, simply because they believe that these processes work. The common acid treatment is known as cryotherapy, which depends on creating a frostbite on the skin, following which the skin is sanded off to the extent to which the tattoo is removed. The acids work on the skin layer by layer, or sometimes can be directly injected. Either ways, the process of using cryotherapy can be extremely painful and has a high risk of infection.
Dermabrasion
Many clinics are also promoting another technique called Dermabrasion, which requires using a special kind of local anesthetic agent, so that you don’t feel the pain. As the name indicates, the process involves using a tool that is abrasive on the skin, so as the product removes layers of the skin, the tattoo will be eventually gone.
Go for Laser tattoo removal
Laser tattoo removal is easily the best way to remove unwanted and odd tattoos. Contrary to what some people may believe, laser treatments are absolutely safe and work extensively on most types of pigments. Not every tattoo can be removed with laser, so find a clinic, where you can talk to the experts in depth, know more on the procedure, and can take steps to avoid side effects, which are minimal.
Compared to most other methods mentioned in this post, Laser tattoo removal is the safest one.
